Pokemon Go in North Austin

We wanted to make a post for the Pokemon go players in Cedar Park/Leander area. VTA has ventured out to find all the best spots to find Pokemon, Pokestops, and Gyms.

First location is the park next to Cedar Park Rec Center located at 1435 Main St, Cedar Park, TX 78613. This park next to the community center has many landmarks in close proximity to each other. The excellent placement of Pokestops allows players to share tips and converse with one another while they await the next Pokemon appearance. There are also two gyms close to this park. Ironically one gym is right next to a real gym which can be very confusing for non-players to comprehend. Since the landmarks are close together there are almost always  Lure Modules set off at all three Pokestops.

Pokemon we encountered at this location: Rattata, Zubat, Ghastly, Eevee, Slopoke, Slobro, Magicarp, Pidgey (some evolved), Goldeen, Rhyhorn, Poliwag, Venomoth, Venonat, Weedle, Raticate, Spearow, Nidoran (Male and Female), Meowth, Kingler, Horsea, Bellsprout, Weepinbell.

There have been occasional Pikachu sightings at this location.

Next we venture further down Whitestone right off of Sam Bass Rd to Williamson County Regional Park 3005 Co Rd 175, Leander, TX 78641. This is a huge park with many Pokestops and two gyms. The gym at the entrance is highly contested while the gym next to the train station is not frequented as much. If you are a newer player check out the latter gym.

Pokemon we encountered at this location: Tauros, Jigglypuff, Staryu, Exeggcute, Doduo, Pidgey, Eevee, Golbat, Zubat, Weedle, Fearow, Rattata, Zubat, Kakuna, Oddish, Venonat, Paras, Bulbasaur.

Off of Brushy Creek Rd there are two parks with lots of Pokestops. The Lake at Brushy Creek, 3300 Brushy Creek Rd, Cedar Park, TX 78613, and Champions Park, 3830 Brushy Creek Rd, Cedar Park, TX 78613, connect through trails so if you're looking for a good exercise walk the trails that go between the two parks.

Pokemon we encountered at these locations: Abra, Jigglypuff, Squirtle, Doduo, Eevee, Weedle, Caterpie, Pidgey, Zubat, Exeggcute.

In Round Rock there are several Pokestops near the 4 way stop at Hairy Man road and Great Oaks Drive. These stops were very generous giving as many as 6 items per stop. When we explore this location more we will give an update on Pokemon available.

HEB Whitestone Market, 2800 E Whitestone Blvd, Cedar Park, TX 78613 has a gym and two Pokestops that are inside the store. One can be reached from the back of the building. The gym is in front of Starbucks. We captured an Eevee and a Omanyte behind the building and many common Pokemon.

The RailYard shopping center 601 E Whitestone Blvd, Cedar Park, TX 78613. There are many Pokestops at this location. We recommend this area for adult players because of all the bars located in the center. If you are looking to have a few drinks and set off a lure you will be in good company. Many people have informed us that this center is a hangout for adult Pokemon Go players.
